Preparations
Before you bring your new buddy home everything should be set up and good to go.

Cage

You need to pick the biggest cage possible. This is where they live, make it comfortable. They need to be able to stretch their wings in the cage. Too many times I see a big bird stuck in a small cage. Get a cage that fits the species of bird you are getting.

Stands

You need a stand for your parrot. Home made, bought, whatever. This is good for training. They even have a cage top play stand which is fantastic.

Food

Have their food ready for when they arrive, they may be hungry. See
Diet

Water

I use filtered water, the chlorine and additives are not good for their digestive system.

Toys

They need toys, lots of toys set up in their cage. They might be frightened when they first arrive, so it's good to have all the toys in place before hand.
