Adjustment

Me & Aly
It takes a long time for a new bird to adjust to his new surroundings. Their whole world has changed. I will tell you Aly's Story because this will let you know how birds adjust and what to do to make them feel more comfortable.

At first Aly was quiet, slept a lot,  just sat in the same spot. This is normal. Their whole environment and routine has changed.

I just gently talked to Aly at her cage and she would put her head down for scritches. I would do this very often so she got used to me. A couple days later, I let her out of the cage and she went on her stand. She was hesitant and quiet but very curious.

Aly was really bonded to the breeder I got her from, so she was a bit depressed. It took a while for her to bond to me. But if you are patient and take things slowly with birds, it does more good then you know. YOU have to earn THEIR trust, it's not automatically given.

But then she decided I was okay. She had toys, food, water, love, attention and her wild side started showing in about two weeks. Now she is out of her mind.

Give them time to settle in, read a book by them, talk to them, sing to them, give them treats. Don't rush them and never grab them, because this will make them fear you.
